There was a very healthy show of women on the start sheet for the Richmond Park TT although sadly some on the wait list didn't make the cut which was a disappointment.

Conditions were "bland" for the time of year, making it an average day speed wise by historic standards. There were lots of first timers out which is always encouraging to see and, as is often the case at these events, there were many more lady road bikers than TTers.

The fastest SEWTTS rider of the day was Detta Guerrini - a last minute mechanical with her TT bike meant she was forced onto her road bike, but given her use of aero wheels, she was then ineligible for the generous £100 first prize in the Road Bike category. That went to Maryka Sennema, a fellow SEWTTS Cat 1 rider who finished less than 20 seconds behind Detta.

Well done to all the ladies who took part - a 4.30am alarm call on a Sunday morning to do a TT definitely deserves a pat on the back!

The category honours went to the following:-

Category 1: Detta Guerrini (London Dynamo) 26:58
Category 2: Clare Campbell-Smith (Born to Bike - Bridgtown Cycles) 28:22
Category 3: Suzanne Sissons (Pearson CC) 30:37
Category 4: Laura Cubiss (Cowley Road Condors) 29:10
Road Bike - Mel Wasley (Black Line) 27:38, Aoife Doherty (London Phoenix) 29:16, Fiona Inskip (Bella Velo) 30:42
Road Bike Vet:- Harriet Somers (VC Meudon) 31:23

In terms of the overall rankings, Clare Campbell-Smith has a seemingly unassailable lead on the Cat 2s.... but it's not over till the fat lady sings as Mathilde Paul has 2 wins to her credit and could still go on the chase! Harriet Somers made it 4 wins out of 4 in the Road Bike Vets category - what a season she is having in her first year of TTing. She even managed to beat her daughter in the process (Phoebe Heveron)! Chapeau Harriet!

SEWTTS newcomer Rachael Cottier

Prolific SEWTTS category winner - CC-S!

Harriet Somers, who outpaced her daughter!

Vikki Filsell

Cat 3 winner - Suzanne Sissons

It was really pleasing to see 29 women on the start sheet for this given the competition the event faced from the inaugural Tour of Cambridge and the Smithfield Nocturne.

The weather was pleasantly warm but riders reported raging winds throughout their rides on the exposed A24. Notwithstanding that, there were some really impressive rides done.

The category honours went to the following speedsters:-

Cat 1: Maryka Sennema (Paceline RT) - 23:33
Cat 2: Clare Campbell-Smith (Born to Bike/Bridgtown Cycles) - 24:25
Cat 3: Madelaine Lee-Smith (Oxted Cycling Club) - 24:18
Cat 4: Kathryn Morris (Dulwich Paragon) - 26:33
Road Bike Senior - Elise Sherwell (Look Mum No Hands! RT) - 25:37
Road Bike Vet - Julie Chasin (Kingston Wheelers) - 25:53

The ride of the day IMHO was by Julie Chasin - that's a great time on a road bike in those conditions - and only 16 seconds behind Elise, whose sporting pal mares includes 2 olympic rowing medals!
